I want to brag a bit and since the only other people that are likely to read this blog are DSi / Art Academy owners like myself, I thought he would be a good place to it.
Recently I purchased a DSi XL mainly because I wanted the larger sized screens for drawing with Art Academy. Drawing with Art Academy is still my favourite pass-time well over a year after downloading the program. Having a larger 'canvas' is wonderful!! I also use the XL for playing games, and it's so nice to be able to really see what I'm doing. (At 45, my eyes aren't the best.)
And I also just pre-ordered a 3DS. Whoop!! I feel a bit greedy wanting a 3DS so soon after getting my XL, but it just sounds so darn cool that I know I'm going to want one desperately once they're available. I do worry about how well I can see on the smaller size of the touch screen, and if I'll like playing games in 3D. But I think the other features of the 3DS will be nice to have. The 3DS will be my 'portable' gaming machine, because the XL really is a bit too bulky for travelling. But I know I'll still use my XL for Art Academy and playing puzzle-type games where I really need to see the screens. Plus it's good for checking the internet late at night when I my eyes are tired.
I can't wait!!

First Impressions of the New Art Academy
I have 5 copies of the downloadable version of Art Academy spread out over my various DSes, and I still couldn't wait for this version for the 3DS. It has so much more content - Colour pencils (which I always wanted), pastels (which I can't wait to try) and more lessons, plus there will be downloadable lessons. You can pick from different textures of paper, and start off with colour paper instead of a white background. The paint even has a 3D look to the texture, it's not so flat like before.
The paint tray is larger, and has a much larger selection of colours, including pallets of colours that work well together. I noticed that in the penci
The New Art Academy
It's been over a year since I've last added a journal entry here, but I've heard some news that has got me very excited. A new version of Art Academy is coming out for the 3DS next month. It will have more lessons, colour pencils and pastels. I've been hoping for this (especially the colour pencils) for a long and I just can't wait to get my hands on it. It's due out in July right so I'll be posting more art work soon.
3DS Friend Codes
To all my fellow 3DS owning friends - Do you want to swap Friend Codes? I have a few of you from here, but I'd like more. I really like the Friend List feature ... I like seeing the little updated messages people write. And hopefully soon the online service will get updated and maybe there will be some sort of chat feature. It'll be fun to play games with people I see from DiviantArt.
If you're interested, let me know.
My friend code is 2750-1084-7169
3DS Very First Impressions
I got my shiny new 3DS and it's soooo pretty!!! The blue on the lid is a bit greener than I thought it would be. It has that shimmer effect sort of like on a beetle.
It's smaller than I thought as well ... but then I've mostly been playing on my DSi XL ... need to get my DSi out for comparison. (I never owned a DSLite.)
The 3D is cool and I have no trouble seeing it. I do wear glasses (for short/near sightedness) with reading lenses, and I find it's a bit easier to see it without my glasses. But that's usually the case with me when I hold something close up. The whole top screen including the lid area is shiny and quite reflective. It will

I feel tempted to buy a XL for the bigger screens... But with the 3DS so near (and preordered!) i just can't!

The AR graffiti game looks like it will be awesome.
